FOLLOW ME ON MY VIMEO!
concept + brief
For this project, I focused on capturing the raw emotion of a song that dives into themes of depression, uncertainty, and the never-ending cycle of mental health struggles. My goal was to turn these heavy feelings into a powerful motion sequence that hits visually.
research + moodboard
Before the assignment, I was already familiar with the visual style for this song and the vibe I wanted to go for. I broke down the lyrics and figured some of the finer details for how to visually express ideas.
Since hearing this song, I always had a visual in mind. The title, "Full Circle," gives you a strong image before you even press play. I didn’t listen to the song again until I started this project, because I wanted to keep from spoiling that anticipation for it.

Through my research, I determined a visual direction focusing on imagery of water, waves, and circular motion, harkening back to indie sleaze and 2010s alternative vibes.

what i learned
With only four weeks to complete this, I had to stay on top of deadlines set by my instructor, Larisa Martin. I’ve never had a project where time felt so tight, so I learned a lot about managing my schedule and getting things done efficiently. My teacher gave us great tutorials, helping me master key skills for motion design, like understanding speed graphs. This project really sparked my love for motion design.
I’d been excited for this project for a while. I learned that a good workflow doesn’t just follow my own pace—it has to fit into deadlines and schedules. There’s no pausing halfway; you have to keep pushing forward. I’m proud of how this turned out, especially since it matched the vision I had in my head before I even started. I’ve realized that motion design comes naturally to me—it feels intuitive, like my brain is wired for it.
