brief + concept
For this lyric video, I took on "EVIL," the final track on Melanie Martinez's PORTALS album. The song dives into revenge, karma, and the desire for payback, even if it makes you look “evil.”
My video pulls from the visual style of PORTALS, combining lush, vibrant plant life with decayed, gritty textures. It’s a motion collage that’s constantly evolving, representing the contrast between beauty and decay.

major insights // what i learned
This project was different because it wasn’t for a class. I’d made lyric videos before for school, but this one was purely for me.
The lyrics were so visual in my mind—like “Hop, skip, jumping over narcissists, throwing all your stuff into the abyss”—and I couldn’t wait to animate that. I’m really proud of how it turned out I set my own timeline and finished it in about a month, which felt incredibly rewarding.
